It will last forever, won’t it?

Our love
it will last forever
won’t it?

I wanted my last job
to last forever.
It was my best job.
Paid well
I really
liked my friends.
That job was suppose
to last forever
wasn’t it?

Being healthy
with no illness
and no disease
no cancer
no heart attack
no stroke.
My health was suppose
to last forever
wasn’t it?

My youth and energy
was suppose
to last forever
wasn’t it?

I am quoting a song by Anna Bartlett Warner:
Jesus loves me
yes I know
for the Bible tells me so
little ones to him belong
they are weak
but he is strong.

I am quoting a message by Brennan Manning:
God will ask
did you believe
that I
loved you?
That I desired you?
That I waited
for you day after day?
That I wanted to hear
the sound of your voice?

The Holy Bible
tells me to believe
in Jesus Christ
and invite Him
into my heart and life —
I did that.

Back to my poem:

I believe
in that song.
I believe
in that message.

I will live forever
after I die
won’t I?

As a teen, wanted to live from writing poetry. Wrote several books, selling nationally. Hung out with readers throughout the United States. My writing has been on back burner. Now dusting off my desk and have my pen in hand. Hope you enjoy some of what I write.

  1. Hi Marilyn, you are the very first person to respond to my poem. I was fearful of what the reactions would be. Your kind words let me know that I am to share from my heart rather than what I think other people would want to hear. Thanks again. Warmly, Jim Wortham

    1. Hello my friend Bob,
Thanks for taking time to read this
      and sharing your thoughts.
It’s great to have a friend like you.
We will party in Heaven some day,
      –Jim Wortham

  2. I believe the answer to your question is YES. The poem is another very good one that kept me on the edge until the end. And poems from the heart generally speaks to another’s heart. Keep up the good work!! Thanks for sharing!!
