Falling In Love With A Poet

I wonder

as I read her poems

what her love

life is like.

I imagine meeting her

and, of course I think

it will become

romantic.

I visualize

how exciting

her private life is.

I ask (just to myself)

can I join your life?

And . . .

can it be forever?

I can’t remember

how many girl poets

I read in magazines,

books and literary journals

and wrote to

wanting one day

to actually meet

them

hoping their worlds and mine

could actually come together.

This is how it was

when I was young

during my teens and twenties.

I remember falling in love

with every poetess

whose poems I read.

As a teen, wanted to live from writing poetry. Wrote several books, selling nationally. Hung out with readers throughout the United States. My writing has been on back burner. Now dusting off my desk and have my pen in hand. Hope you enjoy some of what I write.
