Dear Love Poets
you inspired me as I was learning
to show love through words
I memorized your lines and verses
admired you
and often found a way
to met you in person
I’m looking at your books tonight
most won’t know because
you have been called to
your forever home
In case you are looking down
may I greet you one more time
Hello Leonard Cohen,
Peter McWilliams,
Paul Williams,
Rod McKuen,
Max Smith,
and hello to so
many others now gone
Some love poets are with me
I received a message from
Lee Pennington
who I admire so much
he found time to send messages
to brighten my day
Thank you Lee for remembering me
There are new love poets
most in there 20s and 30s
many more poets much older
(I was that age once trying
to live as a poet)
I read your poetry and it touches
my heart
I won’t mention names since
there are so many to list
Keep writing your feelings
I relate to them and your words
your poems help me make
it through the nights
Thank you poets
from the past
and thank you poets
of the present and future
Jim, the words of the poets hang around longer than they do. That’s the nature of poetry and a good thing. Thank you for your kind words. Blessings to you and Judy.
Thanks, Lee, for your wonderful words. You are truly a wonderful poet I admire.
